A zebra shade is two layers of fabric printed with alternating sheer and solid bands, hung on a single roller. Slide one layer against the other and the bands either line up or offset.
Line the sheer bands up and you keep the daylight and the view. Offset them and the light still comes through while the room closes off. Bring the solid bands together and the shade reads as one opaque panel.
That whole range lives on one shade, which is the reason people pick them over a roller. A roller gives you open or closed. This gives you everything in between, adjusted through the day as the sun moves.
Zebra shades earn their place in rooms that need two different things at two different times. A great room or kitchen that wants daylight at noon and privacy after dark is the obvious case.
West-facing rooms in South Jordan are the other one. From about three o'clock the sun comes in hard, and being able to offset the bands rather than close the room off entirely is the difference between using the space and avoiding it.
Ashley sets each window for its own room rather than running one setting through the house, because a street-facing front room and a back bedroom are not solving the same problem.
We build with Alta and Graber. The zebra range covers light-filtering sheers, UV-blocking solids, and room-darkening versions for spaces that need more control than a standard zebra gives.
Motorization matters more here than on most products, because the entire point is adjusting the shade as the day moves. A room full of windows moves together from one tap instead of one at a time.
Battery motors handle a finished house with no new wiring, and new construction can be pre-wired so nothing shows. Everything is backed by a Manufacturer's Lifetime Limited Warranty.

Custom zebra shades are quoted per project after a free in-home consultation, since the price depends on the fabric or material, the size of your windows, and whether you add motorization. Financing is available through Acorn Finance.
Roller shades are a single layer, fully open or fully closed. Zebra shades have two layers of alternating sheer and solid fabric, so you can position the shade anywhere between open and private without committing to one extreme.
Yes. All zebra shades can be motorized and run by remote, app, or schedule. Battery-operated motors work in existing homes with no new wiring, and motorization can tie into Control4 and other smart home systems.
Yes. Align the solid bands and the shade closes for full privacy; align the sheer bands and you keep the view with soft filtered light. That range lets you switch between an open view and privacy on the same shade.
Yes. Zebra shades come in UV-blocking solid fabrics that cut glare and protect floors and furniture from Utah's strong sun. Positioning the solid bands during peak afternoon sun blocks the most UV.
Great rooms, kitchens, living rooms, and home offices, anywhere you want daylight and a view during the day but privacy at night. They are a strong fit for west-facing rooms that get intense afternoon sun.
No. Regular dusting with a soft brush or a vacuum brush attachment keeps them clean, and light spots can be blotted with a damp cloth. The fabric resists dust buildup, so upkeep is easy.
Zebra Shades are one of several ways to handle a window. Shades, blinds, shutters, drapery and motorized options all live in one place, with the trade-offs spelled out.
