For tall windows, wide window walls, primary bedrooms on a schedule, and any window adults adjust more than once a day, yes. Motorized drapery earns its cost on those windows. The fabric also lasts longer without daily hand pulling. For small windows touched once a week or curtains that are mostly decorative, manual is usually the better value. Ashley walks through the math room by room at the consultation.
A quiet motor inside the rod or behind the track moves the panels. Control with a remote, app, voice through a smart speaker, or scheduled timer. Battery motors recharge with a plug, hardwired motors pull power from the house. The fabric, hardware finish, and panel style are the same options you would have on a manual setup.
A rod is visible hardware with the motor hidden inside, finials and finish part of the room's design. A track is recessed or ceiling-mount with carriers running in an internal channel. Rods work best with grommet or ring top panels in traditional homes. Tracks work best with ripple fold or pinch pleat panels in modern interiors.
Yes. Control 4 is the primary smart home platform we work with, with motorized curtains tying into the same scenes that handle lighting, AV, and climate. Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit voice control work on systems compatible with those hubs. Ashley confirms compatibility with your specific smart home setup before anything orders, so the voice and app control actually work on day one of the install.
Typically six to twelve months between charges, depending on how often the curtains cycle each day. A bedroom set on a morning and night schedule runs through cycles faster than a living room used a few times a week. Recharging is a plug at the headrail with the motor in place, takes a few hours, and runs through the same battery for years before the cell itself needs replacement.
